In one of our Salesforce projects we are working on, we had a custom object with an email trigger that was supposed to send email to the Related Contact. When we clicked the email button to trigger the email sending process, the Related Contact Id was not passed to the email template and didn’t return anything.
It displayed the following error while trying to get Id of the Related Contact :
“The value of the “param_name” parameter contains a character that is not allowed or the value exceeds the maximum allowed length “
Solution :
Change the settings for custom object by following these steps :
Goto Setup > Create > Object > Custom_Object_Name
Check the Allow Activities checkbox, as in the screenshot below :
